Color

Floral embroidery and hemstitched borders bring a small garden detail to these cotton dinner napkins. Choose White Hydrangea, French Hydrangea in Light Blue or Capri Blue, or Lavender; every purchase option is a matching pair.

“I would choose one floral design for a small table, then use the hemstitched edge as the link to plain white pieces.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Care & Ownership

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with mild detergent, separating pale linens from dark colors. Protect embroidery and openwork in a mesh bag, avoid bleach and fabric softener, and reshape gently after washing. Line dry or use low heat where the care label allows; do not overdry. Press from the reverse while slightly damp, cushioning raised embroidery on a clean white towel. Store completely dry. Treat fresh spills promptly with cool water and gentle dabbing; check that a stain has lifted before drying or ironing. A simple fold lets the hemstitched edge remain visible.

Maker / Heritage

Jacaranda Living began with a basket of samples. After moving from South Africa to Massachusetts, needlework enthusiast Cathy Deale offered to show local Zulu embroiderers’ linens to shops in Boston and Wellesley. The first orders, and then the reorders, gave the work a new audience. Cathy and Martin Deale founded the company in 2004, naming it for South Africa’s lilac-flowering jacaranda tree. The business now works with producers in several countries, using both hand and machine embroidery. Its character remains in the small textile details: a botanical motif, an open hemstitch or a border that makes an ordinary household piece feel considered.
